This article walks you through the full onboarding checklist in Sona, from initial setup to data activation, ensuring you're fully configured to capture, enrich, and act on account data.

With this guide, you’ll be ready to confidently move from setup to insight-driven action.

When to Use This / Prerequisites

Use When:

  • You’re new to Sona

  • You need to configure tracking, enrichment, and data activation.

Prerequisites:

  • Admin access to Sona.

  • CRM admin access (for Connect CRM step).

  • Ability to install website tracking code (Install Pixel).

  • Messaging tool admin account (e.g., Slack).

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Initial Setup - CRM & First-Party Tracking

  1. Connect CRM

    • Go to the onboarding page.

    • Click "Connect CRM" and follow the prompts to link your CRM system. This step is typically completed during onboarding.

    Note: The card turns green once the setup is successfully configured, as shown in the example below.

  2. Install Sona Pixel

    • Click the “Install Sona Pixel

    • Copy the tracking script after configuring Capture form submission.

    • Paste it into your website’s global <head> tag.

    • Confirm installation by checking tracking status.

  3. Setup Messaging

    • Click the "Setup Messaging" card.

    • Authenticate and connect your preferred messaging platform (e.g., Slack)

Step 2: Data Activation Setup - Intent Signals, ICP Score, etc.

  1. Setup Intent Signals

    • Click “Setup Intent Signals” to open the configuration page

    • Select key behavioral signals (e.g., page views, form fills) that indicate buyer interest.

    To configure Intent Signal, follow the instructions in the Workspace Settings: Intent Signals guide.

  2. Setup ICP Score

    • Click "Setup ICP Score" to configure your ideal customer profile.

    • Define scoring logic based on criteria like industry, revenue, and company size.

  3. Setup Buyer Persona

    • Click "Setup Buyer Persona" to define your target audience by role or function.

    To configure Personas, follow the instructions in the Workspace Settings: Personas guide.

  4. Setup Buying Committee

    • Click "Setup Buying Committee" to map key personas involved in the purchase process.

    • Align roles to specific sales stages.

Once all required steps (like intent signals, ICP score, buyer personas, and buying committee) are marked complete, you'll see the setup bar reach 100%.

Step 3: Enriched vs. Identified Accounts

Understand the difference between enriched accounts and identified accounts in Sona.

  • Enriched Accounts are those you import, then enhance with company data.

  • Identified Accounts are companies recognized from website traffic via the Sona pixel.

View Enriched Accounts

  1. Go to Accounts > Identified > “Enriched Accounts” tab.

  2. See data for companies that have been enriched with Sona

  3. Use filters or sort by revenue or employee size for targeting.

View Identified Accounts

  1. Switch to the “Identified Accounts” tab.

  2. Review visitor companies detected via pixel tracking.

  3. Click “See All Identified Accounts” to expand full list and dive deeper.

Key Concepts / Best Practices

  • Progress Tracking:

    The progress bars give you visual confirmation that setup is complete. Each section must show 100% before moving forward.

  • Sequential Completion:

    Completing Initial Setup first ensures data capture before diving into activation features.

  • Buyer Signals Depend on Setup:

    Features like account scoring and prioritization rely on having intent signals and personas in place.
