Agent Analytics: Overview

A walkthrough of the Agent Analytics Overview tab — the summary metric cards for AI traffic and indexing, and the per-platform Indexing Analysis Breakdown table.

Overview

The Overview tab in Agent Analytics is your at-a-glance read on how AI crawlers and agents are interacting with your website. It shows how much of your traffic comes from AI, how many of your pages AI platforms have indexed, and how often each platform is visiting and crawling you. Use it as the starting point for Agent Analytics: see the headline numbers, spot which AI platforms are most active on your site, and decide where to dig deeper in the Pages, Referrals, and AI Crawlers tabs.

Getting to Overview

Agent Analytics lives under Insights in the left sidebar, and Overview is its first tab. To open it:

  1. In the left sidebar, click Insights. If the sidebar is collapsed to icons, click the toggle at the top of the sidebar to expand it, or hover over an icon to see its label.

  2. Under Insights, click Agent Analytics.

  3. Click the Overview tab. It is the default view, so Agent Analytics opens here.

Note: Agent Analytics has four tabs, Overview, Pages, Referrals, and AI Crawlers. This article covers Overview.

Summary metrics

A row of cards across the top summarizes your AI traffic and indexing for the selected date range:

  • All Visits: total visits to your site from all sources, both human and AI, in the selected range.

  • AI Traffic Percentage: the share of that traffic which came from AI crawlers or AI-powered search engines.

  • Number of Pages Indexed: how many of your pages have been indexed by at least one AI platform.

  • Referrals from AI Search: real users who clicked through to your site from an AI-generated answer, such as Perplexity or Google AI Overviews.

Indexing Analysis Breakdown

The table below the cards lists every AI platform Sona has detected on your site, one per row, with how each one is crawling and indexing you. Click any column header to re-sort.

  • Platform: the AI platform or crawler, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, or Google AI, shown with its icon.

  • Total Visits: visits from that platform's crawler or users in the selected range.

  • Change: the percentage change versus the previous equivalent period. Green means up, red means down.

  • Last Indexed: how recently the platform last crawled your site, for example Just now, 10 hrs ago, or Past month.

  • Total Pages Indexed: the cumulative number of your pages this platform has indexed. A higher number means broader coverage and more chances to be cited.

Tip: the list is paginated. Use the Show rows dropdown and the Previous and Next controls at the bottom to move through every platform.

Choosing the date range

The date picker in the top-right corner sets the window that every metric and the table are calculated over. Click it to choose Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Month, Last Month, This Year, Lifetime, or a Custom Range.

Tip: turn on Compare to benchmark the selected window against the previous equivalent period. This is what powers the Change percentages in the table.

FAQs

What counts as AI traffic?

AI traffic is any visit to your site from an AI crawler or an AI-powered search engine, rather than a regular human visitor browsing directly. It includes the bots that AI platforms use to index your pages and the referrals that arrive when someone clicks a link in an AI-generated answer. The AI Traffic Percentage card shows how big a share of your total traffic this represents.

Why do I see platforms like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity in the table?

Those are the AI platforms whose crawlers and agents have visited your site. Sona detects each one and reports how often it crawls you and how many of your pages it has indexed. Seeing a platform listed means it is actively reading your content, which is what makes your pages eligible to appear in that platform's answers.

What is the difference between Number of Pages Indexed and Total Pages Indexed?

Number of Pages Indexed, the summary card, counts how many of your pages have been indexed by at least one AI platform overall. Total Pages Indexed, the table column, is per platform: it shows how many pages that specific platform has indexed. Read them together to see both your total coverage and which platforms are giving you the most.

How is Agent Analytics different from AI Visibility?

Agent Analytics is about how AI interacts with your website: which crawlers visit, how much AI traffic you get, and how many pages are indexed. AI Visibility is about how your brand shows up inside AI answers: your visibility, ranking, and the sources AI cites. Use Agent Analytics to understand AI's access to your site, and AI Visibility to understand your presence in the answers it produces.
