Why am I still seeing the "Waiting for Data" message?

Common causes of tracking accuracy problems.

Updated over 6 months ago

If you're still only seeing the Waiting for Data message, the tracking script hasn’t pushed any data to our servers yet.

If you've already given it a reasonable amount of time and still don't see results, you might be dealing with issues such as:

  • Insufficient Site Traffic - your site might not be getting any paid or organic traffic

  • Incorrect Script Installation - ask a developer to check for any installation issues

  • Ad Blocker Problems - your current users might have ad blockers that prevent the script from loading

  • Server-Side Caching Issues - while caching improves site performance, it might be serving up an older version of the page without the tracking script.

In other cases, you might be seeing new visitor data in the platform, but there is a large discrepancy with your existing traffic data.

Improper installation, such as putting the script inside the footer of the website, can also lead to inaccurate activity tracking data. This method makes it difficult to capture different page views, compared to installing the script in between the body of the each page's HTML code.
