Destination Setup: Klaviyo

Updated over 3 weeks ago

This guide walks you through connecting your Sona Audiences to Klaviyo for automated syncs. By completing this setup, your Klaviyo segments will update in real time based on your Sona segmentation, enabling timely, personalized email flows for high-intent leads.

Prerequisites

  • A Klaviyo account must already be connected to Sona

  • Access to Sona Audiences data

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Connect Klaviyo to Sona

  1. Go to Connectors in the Sona sidebar

  2. Locate or add the Klaviyo Connector

  3. Authenticate and ensure the status reads Active

Step 2: Create a New Destination

  1. Navigate to the Destinations section

  2. Click + Add Destination

  3. Select Klaviyo from the list

Step 3: Klaviyo-Specific Configuration

  • Destination Name: Enter a clear, descriptive name like "High Intent - Klaviyo Sync"

  • Source Selection: Choose the Sona Audience you want to sync

  • Target Selection: Select your connected Klaviyo account

  • Enable real-time processing for this destination (located under Field Mapping): Check this box if you want immediate data updates

    • When enabled, real-time processing will override the scheduled sync frequency

    • Ideal for time-sensitive workflows and immediate lead follow-up

For general destination configuration steps—such as selecting a Sona audience, setting sync frequency, record matching, field mapping, sync settings, and saving—follow the instructions in the Destination Setup guide.

Best Practices (optional)

  • Use email as your primary identifier for higher match accuracy

  • Include engagement or intent scores in field mapping for smarter segmentation

  • Match sync frequency to your campaign cadence (e.g., every 60 minutes for active campaigns)

  • Use descriptive names to keep destinations organized

  • Segment destinations by funnel stage or engagement level (e.g., "New Leads", "Hot Prospects")

  • Only map essential fields to reduce sync complexity and improve performance
