Destination Setup: Smartlead

Updated over 3 weeks ago

This guide walks you through connecting your Sona Audiences to Smartlead for automated syncs. By completing this setup, your Smartlead campaigns will stay aligned with real-time Sona segmentation, enabling more targeted and effective outbound efforts.

Prerequisites

  • A Smartlead account must be connected to Sona

  • Access to Sona Audiences data

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Connect Smartlead to Sona

  1. Go to Connectors in the Sona sidebar

  2. Locate or add the Smartlead Connector

  3. Authenticate and ensure the connection status reads Active

Step 2: Create a New Destination

  1. Navigate to the Destinations section

  2. Click + Add Destination

  3. Select Smartlead from the destination options

Step 3: Smartlead-Specific Configuration

  • Destination Name: Enter a clear, descriptive name (e.g., "Sales Prospects – Smartlead")

  • Source Selection: Choose the Sona audience report you want to sync

  • Target Selection: Choose your Smartlead connection

  • Enable real-time processing for this destination (located under Record Matching): Check this box if you want immediate data updates

    • When enabled, real-time processing will override the scheduled sync frequency

    • Ideal for time-sensitive workflows and immediate lead follow-up

For general destination configuration steps—such as selecting a Sona audience, setting sync frequency, record matching, field mapping, sync settings, and saving—follow the instructions in the Destination Setup guide.

Best Practices

  • Use naming conventions like "High Intent – Smartlead Campaign" for clarity

  • Segment by lifecycle stage or product interest to improve sales targeting

  • Sync more frequently for fast-moving campaigns or time-sensitive plays

  • Always ensure email addresses are mapped—they're critical for outreach

  • Monitor sync logs in the Destinations dashboard to confirm successful updates
