Overview
The Identified view in People shows the website visitors Sona has matched to an email address. It opens the Web Visitors list with an Email: is not empty filter already applied, so anonymous traffic drops away and you are left with real people you can research, route to sales, or add to an audience. Each row shows who the visitor is, the company they work for, whether they are a new lead or already in your CRM, and how engaged they are.
Getting to Identified
In the left sidebar, click People. If the sidebar is collapsed to icons, click the toggle at the top of the sidebar to expand it, or hover over an icon to see its label.
Under People, click Identified.
The page header reads Web Visitors, and the Email: is not empty filter chip sits above the table. That filter is what makes this the identified view.
Note: People › Web Visitors opens the same list without the email filter, so it includes anonymous visitors too. See People: Web Visitors.
The visitor table
Each row is one identified visitor. The first columns tell you who they are:
Visitor: the visitor's name, job title, and email when Sona has them. If there is no name, the row shows the Visitor Id instead. Click it to open the visitor's profile.
Company: the company Sona matched the visitor to. Click it to open the account.
Email: the email address Sona matched to the visitor.
Job Title: the visitor's role, when known.
Type: Suggested means Sona identified a new lead that is not in your CRM yet. Known means the contact is already in your CRM.
Crm: the CRM record the visitor is linked to, when there is one.
Scroll the table sideways for more. Further columns cover ownership (Contact Owner, Sales Owner), engagement (Intent Signals, Engagement Trend, Engagement Level, Intent Score), fit and stage (Icp Fit, Lifecycle Stage, Buying Stage), activity (Page Views, Unique Pages, Count Of Sessions, Last Engagement), and attribution (First Touch Channel, Last Touch Channel, and their UTM fields). Columns that start with Company describe the visitor's company rather than the visitor.
Tip: click View Definition in a cell to see how that field is calculated, and See Engagement Trend to open the visitor's engagement over time.
Searching and filtering
The toolbar above the table narrows the list:
Search email address: type an email and click Search to find a specific visitor.
Filters: the Email: is not empty chip is applied by default. Click + next to it to add more conditions, click the x on a chip to remove it, or click Clear to remove all filters.
Select View: switch to a saved view of the list.
Customize columns: the grid icon next to Select View lets you choose which columns appear.
Refresh: reloads the list with the latest data.
Click a column header to sort, and use Show rows, Previous, and Next at the bottom to page through the results. The total number of identified visitors appears next to the page controls.
Note: if you clear the Email: is not empty filter, anonymous visitors come back into the list and it becomes the full Web Visitors view.
Turning visitors into action
Once the list shows the visitors you want, use the buttons above it:
Create Audience: saves the filtered list as an audience that updates as new visitors match. See Data: Audiences.
Create Derived Report: builds a report from the filtered list. See Derived Reports.
Export: downloads the list so you can work with it outside Sona.
How to use the view
Add a Type filter for Suggested to see only net-new leads that are not in your CRM yet.
Sort by Intent Score or Last Engagement to find the visitors most worth contacting today.
Check Contact Owner and Sales Owner before reaching out, so you do not step on an existing conversation.
Save your filtered list with Create Audience to send new identified visitors to your outreach tools automatically.
FAQs
What is the difference between Identified and Web Visitors?
What is the difference between Identified and Web Visitors?
They are the same list. Identified opens it with the Email: is not empty filter applied, so it only shows visitors Sona has matched to an email. Web Visitors shows everyone, including anonymous visitors known only by a visitor ID.
What do Suggested and Known mean?
What do Suggested and Known mean?
Suggested marks a new lead Sona identified that is not yet in your CRM. Known marks a contact that already exists in your CRM. Suggested visitors are your best source of net-new leads.
Why do some rows show a Visitor Id instead of a name?
Why do some rows show a Visitor Id instead of a name?
Sona has matched an email to the visitor but does not have their name. The row shows the visitor's ID instead, and you can still click it to open their profile.
Why is the Company column blank for some visitors?
Why is the Company column blank for some visitors?
Sona could not match those visitors to a company, which is common for personal email addresses such as Gmail or Outlook. The visitor is still identified by their email.
