People: People Lists

Learn how to build static People Lists in Sona by curating identified contacts or uploading a CSV, then manage and use them for ABM outreach.

Overview

Sona's People Lists let you manually build static collections of identified contacts, either by uploading a list of contacts or selecting contacts and adding them to a People List. People Lists are different from dynamic audiences, which auto-update based on filter conditions. With People Lists, you choose exactly which individuals to include, giving you total control. People Lists can also be uploaded, enriched, and used as sources for Destinations for account-based marketing (ABM).

When to use People Lists

Use People Lists when you need to:

  • Curate: build a hand-picked list of people for campaigns or reporting.

  • Upload: import target contact lists and enrich them with Sona engagement data.

  • Use People Lists as a data source for audiences, retargeting, or syncing with destinations.

Prerequisites:

  • For a self-curated list, people must be identified in Sona, from enriched accounts.

  • For an uploaded list, you must have a CSV with email and/or LinkedIn URL.

Types of People Lists

There are two core types of People Lists, based on how they are created:

Self-curated lists (selected in platform)

  • Built from the People Identified tab.

  • You manually select people and add them to a new or existing list.

  • Used to track high-value contacts, revisit engaged leads, or auto-sync to Destinations.

  • Source Type: people_profile

Uploaded lists (CSV upload)

  • Navigate to Upload People List and import your CSV.

  • Sona attempts to enrich these profiles, adding roles, company info, and signals.

  • Can be used in audiences, or exported to Destinations.

  • Source Type: prospect_contacts

Step 1: go to Reports > People Lists

In the left-hand sidebar under Transformations, click People lists to view all saved lists.

Step 2: review list details

Each list shows:

  • Name: for example, Demand Generation or Non-profits Test.

  • Status: for example, Completed or Needs Attention.

  • Source Type: for example, people_profile or prospect_contacts.

Use the Search bar or Filters dropdown to find a specific list by name or criteria.

Step 4: upload a People List

Click the Upload People List CSV button in the top right to import new lists in bulk from a CSV.

Step 5: check status and fix issues

Lists marked Needs Attention may have issues, such as missing filters or enrichment mismatches. Click into these lists to resolve or edit as needed.

Step 6: use the Actions menu

Use the Actions dropdown to manage your lists:

  • Remove Selected: delete the people lists you have checked using the selection boxes.

Select one or more lists using the checkboxes, then choose your desired action from the dropdown menu.

Step 7: refresh the view

If you have made changes or uploads, click the Refresh button to update the display.

Key concepts and best practices

  • Static Versus Dynamic: People Lists are static, ideal for campaign control. Audiences are dynamic and rule-based.

  • Source Types: people_profile means manually curated from the platform, and prospect_contacts means uploaded and enriched.

  • Use Enrichment Wisely: uploaded lists help you discover more about target contacts.
