Enrich People List

Learn how to upload a CSV of contacts in Sona's People Lists and enrich them with attributes like email and LinkedIn URLs.

Overview

Managing individual profiles and enriching them with detailed contact information, such as email addresses and LinkedIn URLs, is an essential process for targeted outreach and data management. This guide explains how to use Sona's People Lists feature to upload a list of individuals and enhance the data with additional attributes.

Navigate to the People Lists section

Once logged in, navigate to the People Lists section under the People menu on the left sidebar.

Here, you will see a table displaying previously uploaded people lists. Each row includes the following information:

  • Name: a description of the filter applied or name of the list.

  • Source ID: a unique identifier for the upload.

  • Source Type: indicating the type of data, such as people_profile.

  • Status: showing whether the upload is completed, in progress, or has errors.

  • Additional Details: other attributes, such as the date of upload and sync frequency, are also displayed depending on the setup.

To upload a new people list, click the Upload People List CSV button at the center top of the table.

Configure your people upload settings

You will be redirected to a configuration page where you need to map and set up your data:

  1. Name Field: assign a meaningful name to your list to easily identify it later.

  2. Header Row Number: specify the row in your uploaded CSV file that contains the headers for your data. This ensures the platform knows how to interpret your columns.

  3. Column Source: select the columns from your uploaded file that match specific data points, like names and email addresses.

  4. Column Destination: map these fields to the corresponding attributes within the platform.

Save or cancel the upload

Once the configuration is complete:

  • Click Save to upload and process your file.

  • Click Cancel if you need to exit the setup without making changes.

View uploaded people

After saving your upload, you will be redirected back to the People Lists page. The newly uploaded list will appear in the table, showing:

  • The Name of your people list.

  • A unique Source ID generated by the system.

  • The Source Type, which is typically labeled people_profile.

  • The Status, indicating whether the upload was successfully completed, for example "In Progress".

  • The number of Records processed.

To view the uploaded people, click the name of the configured people list.

Best practices

  • Ensure Clean Data: before uploading, double-check your CSV file for formatting issues or missing information.

  • Accurate Header Mapping: ensure you correctly map columns to avoid mismatches during the enrichment process.

  • Monitor Status: use the Status column to track the progress of your uploads and address any errors that may arise.

By following these steps, you can efficiently manage and enrich a list of individuals, empowering your team with valuable contact information for outreach and engagement.

FAQs

What does uploading a People List enrich?

Uploading a CSV of individuals through People Lists lets Sona enhance that data with additional contact attributes, such as email addresses and LinkedIn URLs, giving you a more complete contact profile for targeted outreach.

What does the Header Row Number field do?

Header Row Number tells Sona which row in your uploaded CSV contains the column headers, so the platform knows how to interpret the rest of your data. Set this correctly, along with Column Source and Column Destination, so your fields map to the right attributes.

How do I know if my People List upload succeeded?

Check the Status column in the People Lists table after saving your upload. A status like "In Progress" or "Completed" tells you where the upload stands; use this column to monitor for errors on any list you have uploaded.
