Overview
Brand Setup is the guided wizard that gets a brand ready for AI Visibility tracking. It analyzes the brand's website, drafts a profile and topics for it, generates prompts to run against AI platforms, and lets you pick which AI platforms to track it on. The wizard has 6 steps, and Sona pre-fills most of the work using data pulled from the website and, optionally, Google Search Console, so each step is mostly a review-and-confirm.
Getting to Brand Setup
Brand Setup opens automatically the first time you set up AI Visibility for your account. After that, you can launch it again any time to add another brand or a competitor:
In the left sidebar, click Insights.
Under Insights, click AI Visibility.
In the filter bar at the top of the page, click Add Brand. This opens the Brand Setup wizard.
Note: Brand Setup works the same way whether you are adding your own brand or a competitor. The wizard analyzes whichever website you enter.
Step 1: Enter the website
Enter the URL of the brand you want to track. Sona uses this to scan the site and draft the brand profile in the next step.
Connect Google Search Console is checked by default. Leaving it checked lets Sona generate prompts from the site's actual search queries instead of relying only on what it infers from the website. You'll be asked to connect the account in Step 3.
Analyze website moves to Step 2 once a URL is entered.
Step 2: Review your brand profile
Sona scans the website and drafts a brand profile. Review each field for accuracy before continuing, since this profile shapes the topics and prompts generated in later steps.
Website URL – the site Sona scanned. Carried over from Step 1.
Brand Name – the brand name Sona extracted from the site. Edit it if it's incomplete or incorrect.
Business Profile – a short description of what the brand does, used to generate relevant topics and prompts. Edit the text directly, click Re-extract to have Sona scan the site again, or click Edit with AI to revise the description with AI assistance.
Location – the primary market or region for the brand.
Language – the language prompts and topics will be generated in.
Continue saves the profile and moves to Step 3. Back returns to Step 1.
Step 3: Connect Google Search Console
This step appears if Connect Google Search Console was checked in Step 1. Connecting an account lets Sona pull real search data for the brand instead of relying only on the website scan.
Pull keywords automatically – imports search terms already driving traffic to the site, used as a source for generated prompts.
Verify ownership – confirms you own the website without needing to upload a verification file manually.
Get better insights – surfaces which prompts perform best against the site's actual traffic.
Click Connect with Google and authorize access when prompted. Sona only requests permission to view Search Console data, which can be revoked anytime from Google Account settings.
Skip this step: If you don't want to connect Google Search Console, click Skip this step in the bottom-left to continue without it. Sona will generate topics and prompts from the website scan alone.
Once connected (or skipped), the wizard automatically moves into generating topics for the brand.
Step 4: Review Topics
Sona generates a set of themes to track for the brand based on the brand profile and, if connected, Search Console data. Review the list and keep only the topics worth tracking, since each selected topic gets its own set of prompts in the next step.
Uncheck any topic that isn't relevant to the brand.
Use the Add a topic field to add a custom topic, then click Add topic.
Continue generates prompts for the selected topics. This takes a few moments.
Step 5: Review Prompts
For each topic kept in Step 4, Sona generates a set of sample prompts, the questions that will be asked of AI platforms to measure the brand's visibility. Open each topic to review its prompts and select the ones to track.
Click a topic's row (or the chevron on the right) to expand it and see its generated prompts:
Check the box next to any prompt worth tracking. None are selected by default.
Use the Add a custom prompt for this topic field to add a prompt of your own, then click Add.
The counters at the top and on each topic row update as prompts are selected, so you can see the total across all topics at a glance.
Continue is enabled once at least one prompt is selected.
Step 6: Choose your AI Search Platforms
Select which AI platforms Sona should run the selected prompts against. Sona suggests a starting set, but any combination can be selected.
Standard platforms – up to 5 standard models can be selected (for example ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview, Perplexity, Mistral, Qwen). Each selected platform consumes 1 credit per prompt run per day.
Cost and performance tags – each platform card shows tags like High Cost, Fast Speed, or Strong Performance to help weigh tracking depth against credit usage.
Scroll down to see the remaining platform options, a note on premium models, and the configuration summary.
Premium models – Claude, Azure OpenAI, Grok, and Deepseek are available on higher plans and appear as an upgrade note rather than a selectable card on plans that don't include them.
Configuration Summary – shows the total number of prompts carried over from Step 5 and the platforms selected so far, as a final check before creating the brand.
Click Continue to finish. Sona creates the brand and begins running the selected prompts against the selected platforms.

Yes. Topics, prompts, and tracked AI platforms can all be edited later from within AI Visibility. Brand Setup is only the initial configuration.
