Profiles Overview

See the profile types Sona creates automatically: person-level visitor profiles, account-level profiles, people at an account, and enriched CRM contacts.

Overview

Sona automatically creates profiles for every person and account it tracks, giving your team a single, organized record of who is visiting your site, which companies they work for, and which contacts already exist in your CRM. This article explains the different types of profiles Sona creates and how they relate to one another.

Person-level profiles

Sona creates person-level profiles for each unique visitor it is able to track, whether their email has been identified or not. Every visitor is assigned a unique visitor ID, and Sona enriches the profile with an email address, job title, or company information as soon as that data becomes available.

Account-level profiles

Account-level profiles are created when a visitor's associated company has been identified. Sona also creates account profiles for accounts imported from your CRM, so your existing pipeline shows up alongside newly identified visitors.

People in account profiles

Sona also finds other employees and key people for different accounts and lists them in the People section of the account profile, giving you a new source of potential leads.

CRM contacts

Sona also creates person-level profiles for contacts imported from your CRM and appends the associated tracking data. This allows you to track the page activity and engagement of your existing leads.

FAQs

What types of profiles does Sona create?

Sona creates person-level profiles for tracked website visitors and CRM contacts, and account-level profiles for companies it identifies or that you import from your CRM. Together, these profiles give you a complete picture of who is visiting your site and which company they belong to.

Does Sona create a profile if a visitor's email is not identified?

Yes. Sona creates a person-level profile for every unique visitor it can track, even before an email address is identified. The profile is enriched with an email, job title, and company details as soon as that information becomes available.

Where do I find other employees at an account?

Other employees and key people at an account appear in the People section of that account's profile. Sona surfaces these contacts using third-party data, giving you new leads at accounts you are already tracking, even if those people have not visited your site yet.

What happens to CRM contacts once they are imported into Sona?

When you import contacts from your CRM, Sona creates a person-level profile for each one and appends your website tracking data to it. This lets you see the page activity and engagement of your existing leads alongside the visitor and account data Sona collects directly.
